Square roots can be tricky sometimes. And sometimes you don't even know if a number has a square root or not. There is actually a trick to find out whether or not a number has a square root and if so, what it is.

The first step to finding the square root of a number is to factor it. For example, the square root of 120 could be broken down into the square root of 12 and the square root of 10. The square root of 12 would be the square root of two and the square root of six. The square root of six could then be broken down into the square root of two and the square root of three. The square root of 10 could also be broken down into the square root of two and the square root of five.
The next step is to add up all the square roots so in this case, the answer would be √2√2√2√3√5. √2√2 will always be 2 so the simplified answer is 2√2√3√5 which could be simplified more into 2√(2x3x5)=2√30.
